Selling online in Pakistan is one of the easiest ways to turn unused items into cash. But scammers actively target sellers. Knowing their tricks is the best protection.
The Overpayment Scam
A buyer agrees to your price quickly and sends a payment that is more than your asking price, then asks you to refund the difference. The original payment is fake or reversed, and you have already sent real money. Never refund an overpayment — cancel the transaction.
The Fake Screenshot Scam
A buyer sends a screenshot of a bank transfer or JazzCash payment that looks genuine but no money was sent. Always verify payment in your own banking app before handing over any item. A screenshot is not proof.
The Courier Scam
A buyer from another city asks you to ship via a "courier company" they provide. The courier is fake and controlled by the scammer — they collect your item without you receiving payment. Use only well-known courier services booked through official channels.
The "I Will Send Someone" Scam
The buyer says they are busy and will send someone else to collect and pay. That person arrives, offers less than agreed, and uses pressure tactics. Only deal with the actual buyer in person.
Protecting Yourself
Meet in public places. Accept cash for smaller items. Verify transfers in your own app — never trust screenshots. Do not share your home address or CNIC with strangers. Trust your instincts — if something feels wrong, end the conversation.
If You Are Scammed
Report to the FIA Cybercrime Wing. Keep all evidence — messages, screenshots, phone numbers.
